The Swim Whisperer: Cultivating Confidence in the Water at Scripps Ranch Swim Racquet Club

Learning to swim is a joyous journey and an essential life skill, yet introducing children to this world can be intimidating. Thankfully, the Scripps Ranch community has a wonderful resource for this through its learn-to-swim program offered by the Scripps Ranch Swim Racquet Club SRSRC. One shining star in this program is Kristin Neth, the swim lesson coordinator and assistant aquatic director at SRSRC.

Kristin Neth creates an atmosphere of comfort and calm when teaching young swimmers. With a steady, easy-going voice that speaks directly to children's interests beyond water activities, she fosters trust quickly. My philosophy is to teach them not just as forced learners but as individuals who will fall in love with the water, explns Kristin. She build their confidence and relaxation in the water before introducing skills like swimming.

Kristin's passion for swimming began during her childhood in Oj, California. She was a competitive swimmer throughout most of her formative years and into college at San Francisco State University where she was part of their swim team. Post-graduation, she moved to San Diego, fell in love with the Scripps Ranch area, got married, and has been living there for about 24 years now. As a proud mother of two daughters, Kristin has immersed herself into SRSRC's activities.

Kristin started her involvement at SRSRC as a member of its Masters Swim program, eventually turning to teaching swimming lessons through the club. I really enjoy it and I love watching kids grow from their first swim lesson to being comfortable in water, she shares. It brings me great joy seeing them day after day learning this fundamental skill.

Kristin's commitment to water safety exts beyond competition and professional swimming; she imparts lifelong skills that foster confidence, discipline, and a love for the sport of swimming. SRSRC provides an abundance of swim lesson opportunities suited for all ages:
